Training in a different way

From a martial arts training perspective, I have been practicing defense from a neutral stance. No traditional deep stances. I am, instead, standing with feet hip-width apart or sitting on a chair with the guards down. This training approach brings a whole new level of center, power, speed, and flow of movement for me. An aggressive and skilled partner has been helpful, along with a good teacher experienced in tactical self-defense.
